Great hidden hotel and perfect spot for a stay during a roadtrip up the coast! Quiet, cute, clean, charming and historical ! Also the hosts were very responsive when we got a little lost
My sister and I stayed here in 2016 and we have been longing to return. It was such an adorable, kitschy (authentically, and in the best way!) and cozy place. I love it. It's not a 5 star hotel and it's not trying to be. I hope they keep it just as it is. It's a true one-of-a-kind and a gem in the magical Redwoods!
Cute, vintage motel with clean beds and a mini fridge. Dated yes, but that was part of the charm. Turquoise and sunshine tiles, wood trim and floors from a generation ago. We opened windows for awhile to freshen up the room and 101 was far enough away that we ended up sleeping with them open, no problems. Service was excellent, including a phone call checking in on us when we were later than expected.
The Madrona is beautifully nestled in the Giant Redwood Rainforest. The rooms are cozy, clean and quiet among the trees. There is a fire pit and bbq's available. The fire pit has an old fashion swing that is tied high up in a gigantic tree. There is also a world famous artist named Stuart Foster who has an art gallery on the Madrona grounds. He paints amazing Redwood scenes from the forest all around the motel. The Eel River has a beach you can walk too. The motel staff is friendly, and cheerful and the owners Dottie and Graham were charming and warm hearted. But most of all I found the two cats who are "on patrol" to be friendly but knew when to leave the guests alone!!
This was a great option for us - we wanted to be among the redwoods and not pay too much for the privilege. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The hosts were really accommodating to our requests and we enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again!
Beautiful area, great hosts, calzones at Avenue Cafe. A family could Air B&B 2 rooms for the price of a hotel room and spend time around awesome old growth redwood trees. Get an Avenue of the Guants brochure and adventure in different groves all day!
We absolutely adored our stay at the Madrona Motel and Motor Court. Vintage charm, cute and cozy! Clean sheets and room! Great views and close to avenue of the giants.
The motel is quiet & cute. Nestled on a hillside among Redwoods & Madrone trees for which it is named. Quite picturesque to the weary road worn traveler. The rooms offer a clean, relaxing stay & the staff are very helpful, kind & considerate. The Buckhorn market located just 1/4 of a mile away is easily within walking distance along old Redwood highway is very accommodating for any needs you might have. To sum it up I loved it.
